The police on Friday arrested three of the four accused involved in the shooting of a beverages shop owner in Govindpur. Those arrested were identified as Raman Jha, a resident of Chhota Govindpur, Pintu Kumar Prasad and Sintu Kumar Sahu, both residents of Dayal City in Parsudih. The police have seized the scooty used to carry out the crime.
The fourth accused, Chandan Singh, who is the main accused in the case is still absconding. According to police Chandan Singh who was heading the gang of four had shot at the beverage shop owner Akhilesh Singh (32) after the owner demanded money from the former after they had consumed four bottles of soft drinks. During the incident the victim sustained a gun-shot injury in the head and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital emergency from where he was shifted to intensive care unit (ICU) where he is recovering.
“Chandan was asked to pay the bill, he got agitated and took out a pistol and pointed it at Akhilesh`s head. The main accused had subsequently enquired whether he should shoot him, and when Akhilesh nodded jokingly to go ahead, Chandan pulled the trigger,” said Superintendent of Police (City), Chandan Jha. The SP said all the four accused were drunk.
After shooting they had fled the scene by riding the scooty. He said the main accused Chandan has taken the pistol along
