The police have identified the suspect as Pramod Ananta Borade (26) of Ashram road, Bagde Vasti, Urali Kanchan. The crime branch (unit-V) led by inspector Sunil Yadav nabbed the suspect in Hadapsar.
Yadav told TOI that police constables Shivaji Ghule and Manoj Salunkhe had received a tip-off that a criminal on the police records would be coming near a cinema hall in Hadapsar with a firearm. “We laid a trap and nabbed Borade from the spot,” Yadav said.
Yadav said that during the frisking the police found a country made pistol and a cartridge totally worth Rs 35,100 in possession of Borade. “We have registered the offence under the relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act with the Hadapsar police station,” Yadav said.
He said that the police are now investigating from where the suspect Borade had procured the country made pistol. “The suspect Borade has previous criminal record. He has seven cases registered against him that include, two murders, two dacoities, a house break-in, one robbery and one vehicle theft,” Yadav added.
The investigating team comprised assistant inspector Mahadev Waghmode, sub-inspector Dattatreya Darade, police constables Manik Pawar, Baba Karache, Ashok Atole, Sabhaji Wagh, Bharat Ransinh and Ajay Kharade.
