Dacoit gang arrested in Vashi Navi MumbaiA gang of three who posed as courier boys and robbed a courier company owner’s house of gold ornaments and cash of Rs 50 lakhs in Vashi in Navi Mumbai was by the city crime branch.

Crime branch unit 10 have arrested Girish Nadar, a habitual offender, his associate Ibrahim Shaikh and a taxi driver Manohar from Sion Koliwada. Accused Nadar has sold the gold ornaments to a jeweler in Andhra Pradesh. A police team has left for Andhra Pradesh to recover the booty.

Sources said that the crime branch received tip off that two persons from Dharavi had gone to sell huge quantity of gold ornaments in AP. Police picked up the two persons who told they were just the carrier and spill the beans on Nadar. Police laid a trap and arrested Nadar and two others. Police said that the booty was robbed from a courier company owner’s house in Vashi in 2011. ”Manohar who runs a taxi used to carry courier company’s parcel from one place to another and in the melee a office peon used to share innocently used to share information with Manohar. Manohar took advantage and pass on the information to Nadar.” Said an officer.

Nadar, a 12th pass who has been arrested earlier in a murder case in Dharavi, along with Ibrahim and Manohar and two others hatched a plot to loot the company owner’s house. Trio posed as courier boys and a parcel in the hands, took an entry into the house. No sooner did owner’s wife opened the door, trio tied her robbed her ornaments and Rs 5 lakhs cash and fled away.
