Delhi Police arrests two more personsThe Delhi Police on Thursday captured two more persons — one from the UPSC and the other from the Environment Ministry — broadening its probe into the corporate espionage case.

Vipan Kumar (42), PA to a UPSC member, and Jatinder Nagpal (40), PS to a Joint Secretary in the MoEF, were held for leaking sensitive documents to energy consultant Lokesh Sharma. Sharma allegedly used to procure documents from the Power and Coal Ministry and supplied them corporate companies, police said. According to police, the two accused were leaking secret documents to Sharma and some other “agents” for 15 years.

Sources said the two shared a common e-mail ID which they used to forward documents to some of their “clients”, which also included corporate companies. They also said the two were on monthly payroll of their clients.

The two accused were later remanded in police custody for five days. Seeking their custody, police said investigations revealed that “sensitive documents” were leaked from the MoEF, besides the Power and Coal Ministry. Police told the court: “Both were involved in procuring sensitive documents that later were given to Lokesh. We have also recovered documents from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, besides those from the Coal and Power. We need to confront these with the two accused.”

According to the police, Kumar used to photocopy the relevant documents that he was made to type and then leak it to the agents.
Nagpal reportedly used to procure documents mainly for Lokesh, the police said.

The police have now identified a few other persons whom the two used to leak the documents, sources said.
