Four ‘Pilots’ held for possessing liquor

Four Pilots held for possessing liquorAnandnagar police arrested four persons on Tuesday night for possessing four beer cans and a liquor bottle during a routine vehicle check near Honest Tea Circle close to S G Highway. As none of them was found drunk, they were charged with possession of liquor. The accused told the police that they worked as pilots for a private budget airline. Police said, “We were conducting routine check when around 9.30 pm they came across an EcoSports car near Honest Tea Circle. They found four cans of beer and a bottle of liquor in the car. However, none of the four occupants of the car had consumed alcohol.”

Cops added, “The four identified themselves as – Gaurav Anand (28), resident of Palm Green Apartment near Makarba railway crossing in Vejalpur and native of New Delhi, Utkarsh Thakur (25), resident of White Field Orchid Apartment in Makarba and native of Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjeev Wadhwan (40), resident of Mayfair Tower near Shivranjani crossroads and native of Delhi, and Nawaz Hussein Iktahar (26), resident of Shalin Otium, near Prahladnagar Garden and native of Delhi.”

Sanjeev is a pilot with SpiceJet and the other three are co-pilots, they said. Inspector P V Jadeja said, “We found four beer cans and a liquor bottle in the car when we stopped it. These had been purchased in Delhi. We arrested them for possessing alcohol. They were granted bail. They claimed they work as pilots with SpiceJet, both for domestic and international flightsbut did not show any identity card.They also could not show any permit for liquor.” When contacted, Bijender Singh Sinsinwar, SpiceJet station manager, said, “We do not have any information about our pilots being arrested.”
