Four unlicensed rifles seized one arrested in SamayapuramTRICHY: Police seized four unlicensed rifles from a house near Samayapuram on the outskirts of the city and arrested a person in connection with the case on Friday morning. It was alleged that a policeman was involved in hiding the guns.

A team of organized crime unit (OCU) of CB-CID police, Trichy found three single barrel muzzleloader rifle and one double barrel muzzleloader rifle at the residence of P Krishna Bharathi, 32, in Teachers’ Colony. Bharathi runs a movie CD shop in Samayapuram, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the team of OCU conducted a search at Bharathi’s house and found the rifles, which were all unlicensed. During investigation, Bharathi pointed finger at a male special sub-inspector (SSI). He alleged that the SSI had handed him the rifles and asked him to keep it safe at his house.

The rifles were handed over to Samayapuram police, who registered a case against Bharathi. Police suspected that the seized guns might have been stolen in connivance with the policeman.
