CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted an inter-state “gang” allegedly involved in breaking and looting ATM machines in Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
A special team of Palwal police arrested three members of the alleged gang – Karan Singh alias Ved Parkash of Kanpur (UP), Usuf alias Isab Beara, and Mirsu of Alwar (Rajsthan) – on Monday night. They were remanded in police custody on Tuesday.
The police have claimed that the three have confessed to having looted an HDFC Bank ATM at New Colony, Palwal, in November. “They had been active for the past few years and used to change their base after each crime,” Rewari range inspector general of police Mamta Singh said. The police claim the accused targetted ATMs after thoroughly checking the area.
Singh said the accused had been quizzed for their involvement in other such incidents in Haryana, and the police were trying to ascertain if more people were a part of the alleged gang.
