A 50-year-old woman in Juhu was found killed in her apartment on Monday afternoon, and cash and valuables worth Rs 30 lakh have been reported missing from the flat, police said. The victim, Minothi Parikh, was alone in the flat at the time of the incident and police are hunting her domestic help Dilip, who has been missing.
The Juhu police said the victim’s son is not based in the city and she resided with her husband and daughter-in-law at Guru Krupa Society on 11th Road. In the evening when her husband and daughter-in-law returned home, they found Parikh lying in a pool of blood in the living room, with her limbs tied up. She has been stabbed several times.
“The entire house has been ransacked and cupboards were pulled open. Prima facie investigation revealed the victim had put up a fight. We are examining the CCTV camera footage and taking down statements of the neighbours,” an officer from Juhu Police Station said.
Police have found that the domestic help, Dilip, was seen leaving the society around afternoon. Since then, his phone has been switched off. “The family hadn’t conducted a police verification of the servant, although he had been employed three months ago and resided with them. They only know he was from Bihar and called himself Dilip,” an officer said. DCP Vinayak Deshmukh from Zone 9 said the cops were still ascertaining the exact value of the missing valuables.
