Patna: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested Nitin Kumar Aman, who allegedly stabbed a schoolgirl ten times near the old gate of Ramkrishna Public School under the Buddha Colony police station area on Monday evening, from “behind the museum” on Tuesday night.
Police, however, are yet to recover the knife as Nitin has not told them where he hid it after the crime. He told police he came to know about the girl four months back through Akshay, his neighbour in Ashiana where Nitin lived his parents.
A first-year student of Mechanical Engineering at BIT-Mesra’s Patna branch, Nitin told police when he met the girl on Monday evening, she forcibly deleted the voice recordings stored in his cellphone. “There were no video files,” he was quoted by police who also recovered the cellphone from his possession.
“Though we are trying, we have not been able to contact the boy’s parents so far,” Patna SSP Jitender Rana said.
The girl, admitted to a private hospital on Boring Canal Road in a precarious condition on Monday night, was reported to be out of danger on Wednesday. She studies in Class X in a prestigious school near the Gandhi Maidan.
Nitin’s father Prabhat Kumar is a civil engineer with the NHPC and mother a homemaker. Their house in Ashiana is locked, police said.
