Three members of a UP-based gang were arrested after an encounter near east Delhi on Thursday night. The men, who carry bounties of Rs 1 lakh on their heads, are wanted for the murder of a police constable and a businessman.
Police said the men—Shadar Khan, Sunder and Kishan Kumar—were nabbed following a tip-off from Haryana police. “A team led by DCP Dinesh K Gupta was formed to track the men and their hideout in New Ashok Nagar was identified,” said Ravindra Yadav, joint commissioner of police (crime).
A joint team of officers from Haryana police and Delhi Police’s crime branch was formed and a trap was laid at the Ghaziabad border. When the trio, who was travelling in a black SUV, was stopped at the checkpost, they opened fire. When cops returned fire, the men tried to flee on foot but were nabbed after a short chase. Their car was found to have been stolen from Noida.
During interrogation, the men admitted to killing constable Rahul Dhaka who was posted in UP’s Saharanpur area as well as Haryana businessman Harender Nagar. The men told police they belonged to the Anil Dujana-Randeep Bhati gang active in parts of UP and east Delhi and were involved in several murders and robberies.
They also admitted to have killing a member of a rival gang with an AK-47 in Gautam Budh Nagar.The trio have also stolen Rs 20 lakh from a businessman in Saharanpur and committed several robberies in Noida.
