TMC worker arrested  for cyber crimeMALDA: A Trinamool Congress worker was arrested on Sunday for allegedly sending an obscene video to the cellphone of North Dinajpur district magistrate Smita Pandey. The accused was later produced in court.

The youth, Abdul Khaleque, used to work as a siksha bandhu (education assistant) of Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyan in Sujali panchayat.

Pandey first received the video on February 25 and immediately informed police. Pandey’s personal secretary Kakali Roy also lodged a complaint with Karnajora police station. Probe revealed that the sender’s cellphone number belonged to Khaleque. Islampore police arrested Khaleque and seized two cellphones from him. District SP Syed Waqar Raja said Khaleque was sent to jail custody till March 13.

Khaleque’s family is locally influential for their links with Trinamool. In fact, his brother Kamaluddin is the president of Sujali’s local Trinamool committee.
